Instructions
Vanilla Cake from Scratch
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.
Cream butter, oil, and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk.
Divide into pans and bake 30-35 minutes.
Cool completely on a wire rack.
Chocolate Frosting
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, and salt.
Slowly beat in cream until desired consistency.
Assembly
Layer cake with frosting between layers and cover top and sides. Smooth frosting and decorate as desired.
